MERDEKA HOUSE SAPPORO is a two story 80's Japan style guesthouse with four private rooms. Base yourself here while enjoying the snow and exploring the island of Hokkaido.
Guest rooms are on the second level. Each room has two single beds (that can be pushed together if you want to cuddle) large wardrobes for your backpacks and snow gear. Bedside tables and lamps for reading. Windows with city or park views.
The whole house has hydronic heating.

THE SALON AND WASHITSU
The first level has a washitsu (a tatami-style room) with bean bags, a projector, sound system, books and games.
There is also a shared work/dining area with a 10-seater table. We have installed Starlink so the WIFI is fast and reliable for working online.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use.
There are two toilet rooms and a traditional Japanese bathing room with a large bath and shower. Washing machine and drying racks available.

Twin-share rooms are 12,000 yen per night. This includes car transfers to and from the mountain. We will likely eat out at some local restaurants a couple of times a week. Booking deposits for Merdeka Sapporo are 12,000 yen, the remainder due 1 month before arrival.

The Neighbourhood
Located in the outskirts of Sapporo, travellers find themselves in a place without pretense. Exchange greetings with the neighbours while the kids play in the park across the road. Dusk is accompanied by the calling of a small food truck and the sky is aglow with the city in the distance. The house is limited to eight guests, it feels like a home, its a place worth experiencing.

Sapporo in summer is beautiful. Located on the northern island of Hokkaido, it is full of nature and culture. From traditional Ainu beginnings to modern-day coffee shops and bars. There is a guidebook in the house with local hot spots.
Sapporo is great to explore by bike or train, and the subway will get you anywhere you want to go in no time. Keep in mind the subway is a 20 minute walk from the house.
